About The Pattern, In The Designer's Words
The Hudson Valley is one of the most beautiful places in the United States. In the autumn, people come from all over the world to see the colorful foliage, enjoy the mild weather, and to relax in nature.
This MKAL, designed inLocally sourced Mohonk yarn from Jill Draper Makes Stuff, celebrates the natural beauty of the region and local businesses based in the Hudson valley.
The pattern will be released in 4 parts according to the schedule below. You will also receive an info page to help you pick yarn and gather materials.

This pattern contains increases, decreases, slipped stitches, lacework and stacked stitches. If you have never tried stacked stitches, it is a good idea to look at this online video tutorial:

Pattern Stats
Finished Size: 84” (213 cm) wide x 23” (58 cm) deep crescent shape.
Yarn: Xandy's original used 3 skeins of sportweight yarn, 370 yards (338 m) per 4 oz skein; 100% wool. You can use either of our sportweight yarns OR any of our DK weight yarns too! Angela made our sample in Honky Tonk DK. You'll need 3 contrasting color skeins
Needles: Size 8 (5mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 14 sts x 22 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) square in stockinette stitch.
You will need sport or DK weight yarn in three colors.
Color A is your pop color. Whether you pick a highlight or lowlight, this is the color that should contrast with both Colors B and C. You will only need half a skein (50g) of this color.
Color B is your secondary color. it should be harmonious with Color C, but not too close to it. A solid color is best.
Color C is the star of the show. Though I prefer solid colors all around, this is where you may want to use a mildly variegated yarn. Make sure you like this color a lot, it’s the one we’ll be using most.
Xandy Peters is a knitting designer and teacher, best known as the innovator of the stacked stitch technique and for the Fox Paws pattern. Starting out as a footwear and product designer, Xandy turned to knitting as a way to explore textiles and surfaces without using factory production and has since made a career out of publishing new patterns and teaching workshops. Xandy has been published in magazines such as Vogue Knitting, Twist Collective, Knitscene, Knitty, and Pom Pom Quarterly, has a Bluprint class teaching the stacked stitch technique and continues to self publish patterns monthly.
