About The Pattern, In The Designer's Words

The Hudson Valley is one of the most beautiful places in the United States. In the autumn, people come from all over the world to see the colorful foliage, enjoy the mild weather, and to relax in nature.

This MKAL, designed inLocally sourced Mohonk yarn from Jill Draper Makes Stuff, celebrates the natural beauty of the region and local businesses based in the Hudson valley.

The pattern will be released in 4 parts according to the schedule below. You will also receive an info page to help you pick yarn and gather materials.

Each clue will automatically be sent to you as a pattern update through Ravelry each Friday 12 pm EST starting Oct 14th.

This pattern contains increases, decreases, slipped stitches, lacework and stacked stitches. If you have never tried stacked stitches, it is a good idea to look at this online video tutorial:

Pattern Stats

Finished Size: 84” (213 cm) wide x 23” (58 cm) deep crescent shape.

Yarn: Xandy's original used 3 skeins of sportweight yarn, 370 yards (338 m) per 4 oz skein; 100% wool. You can use either of our sportweight yarns OR any of our DK weight yarns too! Angela made our sample in Honky Tonk DK. You'll need 3 contrasting color skeins

Needles: Size 8 (5mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 14 sts x 22 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) square in stockinette stitch.

About The Designer

Xandy Peters is a knitting designer and teacher, best known as the innovator of the stacked stitch technique and for the Fox Paws pattern. Starting out as a footwear and product designer, Xandy turned to knitting as a way to explore textiles and surfaces without using factory production and has since made a career out of publishing new patterns and teaching workshops. Xandy has been published in magazines such as Vogue Knitting, Twist Collective, Knitscene, Knitty, and Pom Pom Quarterly, has a Bluprint class teaching the stacked stitch technique and continues to self publish patterns monthly.
